This past Friday I went with Paul, a friend from the ward, to hike
Owens Peak - an 8,453 foot mountain in the Sierras. We started hiking around 4:30 and found a camp spot about two hours later. After an excellent meal of beef stew (cooked on Paul's stove which was lit by the only functional match we had) and a long and bright (the moon was awesome!) night, we started our ascent shortly after sunrise. Having hiked through a maze of gorgeous Oak and pine trees and taken some wrong turns with some treacherous class 3-4 bouldering, we reached the summit.
